Tracekit Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 18, 2026

Tracekit is a Chrome extension for debugging webpages. We do not receive, store, or sell your data on Tracekit servers.

Summary

All scan results, network captures, and analytics events are processed locally in your browser. Data stays on your device unless you choose to export it.

What the extension accesses (locally only)

When you start a scan on a page you choose, Tracekit may process:

  • Website content — DOM structure, visible text, and API request/response bodies shown in the side panel
  • User activity on that page — network requests and recent clicks to link UI sections to APIs and analytics events

This data is stored in chrome.storage.session for the current tab session and is cleared when the session ends.

What we do not do

  • Sell or share data with third parties for advertising
  • Use data for creditworthiness or lending decisions
  • Collect cross-site browsing history as a purpose of the extension
  • Collect passwords, health, financial, or contact data as a purpose of the extension
  • Transmit scan data to Tracekit-operated servers

Exports and optional integrations

  • JSON / CSV exports — Saved to your device via the browser download API when you click Export
  • Clipboard — API curl commands and event JSON are copied only when you click Copy
  • Google Sheets (optional) — If you configure Google OAuth, export data is sent directly to Google APIs under your Google account. Tracekit does not receive that data

Permissions

Tracekit requests Chrome permissions only to run its debugging features on pages you actively scan (network interception, DOM inspection, side panel, session storage, downloads, clipboard write, and optional Google identity for Sheets export). See the extension listing for permission justifications.

Children

Tracekit is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do.
